Melbourne Social Cycling and Breakfast

Federation Square (opposite the main tram stop on St Kilda Road)

Join a group of fellow Melbourne Social Club bike riders for our monthly morning ride.

This month, the ride will begin at Federation Square. From there we will make our way along the Southbank of the Yarra through to the Docklands precinct (which we can explore) and past the Melbourne Observation Wheel.

We then connect with the Capital City Trail riding past Royal Park and the Zoo continuing along the trail through the inner northern suburbs.

We will take brunch in North Carlton or Fitzroy after about an hour of riding.

After brunch we will continue on the Capital City Trail back to the Yarra near Dights Falls where we will take a short break before heading back along the river to Federation Square.

The ride takes approx 3 – 3.5 hrs including time for brunch and is mainly on sealed bike paths. It requires a reasonable level of fitness (as there are hilly sections) and a suitable bike in good working order. The ride is about 32 km long.

Meet David and Ian at Federation Square at 9 am directly opposite the tram stop on St Kilda Road.

Trivia - Sherlock Holmes Inn

Sherlock Holmes Inn, 415 Collins St, Melbourne

Join us for a trivia night at the Sherlock Holmes on Collins Street which is a British styled pub located on Collins Street.

The trivia night is hosted by comedian Janet McLeod and offers winners $50 food & drink vouchers as well as quiz rounds for Jugs of Beer, Bottles of wine etc. Janet is a well-respected comedian and has a way of getting you involved in the night.

The Sherlock Holmes opened in 1985 and the hostelry has been extremely well received, as have its comestibles, ales wines and spirits. So much so that the worst criticism has been that the establishment is too small for the large numbers of discerning citizens who wish to avail themselves of the sundry attractions which this unique tavern affords.

Here is a home for the aficionados of the works of the eneffable Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, where the friendly shades of Dr Watson, Professor Moriarty (a changed man since he went over the falls) and the Stradivarius-playing, opium-smoking genius himself, the Great Detective, await your pleasure.

So meet Nicole at the reserved table for a fun trivia night.

International Beer Day

Hopscotch, Shop 4 Building 2, Riverside Quay, Southbank

Hopscotch is a walk in bar specializing in beers...and has a great position riverside on Southbank, so it's a top spot for International Beer Day.

With 30 flavours of beer on tap, the craftiest of them will soon feature as a boutique batch from the custom microbrewery scheduled to arrive on site early in the new year. An exclusive brew will change every month & is personally prepared by local Victorian makers. Explore the fridge menu for more local & international drops to sip by the river, you won’t be asking for ‘the usual’ here.

If cocktails are more your thing, you can’t go past one of the DIY kocktail kits, tap cocktails or spiked slushies… frozé anyone? Or ask the bartender to conjure up something with bite, their signatures will have you doing a little shoulder shimmy, you know the one.

Hopscotch is located between St Kilda Road and Queensbridge Street across the river from Flinders Street Station in front of the river, so a great riverside location. The previous bar in this location was the World Bar and Restaurant.

Friday Night Drinks - Whitehart

22 Whitehart Lane, Melbourne

Our city's urban landscape has inspired some pretty nifty haunts over the years, from rooftop Airstream hotels to bars inside disused trams. But it feels like we're about to reach peak Melbourne with the arrival of Whitehart, a double-decker container bar that's hidden down a CBD laneway and sporting a very healthy dose of street art.

The brainchild of husband and wife duo Stephen Johnson and Sabrina Santucci, the bar's set to breathe new life into a former carpark just off Little Bourke Street, with the pair drawing inspiration from the most memorable drinking spots they've encountered on their overseas jaunts.

The bar is an urban oasis with a mix of indoor and openair spaces, plus multi-storey art installations and striking wall projections courtesy of local design studio Daisylegs. Throw in a considered lineup of craft brews, boutique wines and signature cocktails, and eats from a selection of the city's food vendors, and we're in for one hell of a new CBD watering hole.

Meet Nicole at the reserved area.

End of Month Social Drinks at the Glamp Bar

Glamp Bar, 267 Little Collins St, Melbourne

** Open to everyone to enjoy end of month drinks. Members - Please arrive before 7.30 to receive your complimentary drink **

Join us for our end of month drinks in the Lions Den at one of Melbourne's newest bar, the Glamp Bar.

Melbourne is full of surprises, but we’re pretty sure that there’s no other bar in the city quite as spectacular as Melbourne glamping (that’s glamorous camping for you newbies) bar, Glamp.

The bar is situated on Little Collins Street in the space above modern African restaurant. Glamp is the *only* venue in Melbourne that will let you drink mouth-watering cocktails and nibble on African-style snacks under safari-style canvas.

Usual beer and wine options are also available.

The space has three distinctive areas—a spacious seating area inside a stunning safari tent, an open bar with enough space for a boogie, and a cosy private seating area that’s hidden behind Heavyweight—the resident rhino. Join us in the Lion's Den.

Selected cocktails are only TEN BUCKS all night on Thursdays, and members will receive a cocktail shot on arrival from the bar tender’s selection.

If you’re beginning to feel peckish, Glamp’s recently revamped food menu delivers the goods. Two cheese and charcuterie boards have been added as sharing options, as well as a variety of savoury ‘cigars’ made from Tunisian pastry that make for tasty vego and meat-lovers’ snacks. Overdosed on the cheese?

If you are not a member, book in and join us at this end of month drinks night. Meet some of our hosts and members, learn more about the best and liveliest social activities in Melbourne and start enjoying a great social life and great benefits such as free drinks and discounts to bars, restaurants, shopping, and wine offers.
