Trivia Night - Sherlock Holmes Inn

Sherlock Holmes, 415 Collins Street, Melbourne

Join us for a trivia night at the Sherlock Holmes on Collins Street which is a British styled pub located on Collins Street.

The trivia night is hosted by comedian Janet McLeod and offers winners $50 food & drink vouchers as well as quiz rounds for Jugs of Beer, Bottles of wine etc. Janet is a well-respected comedian and has a way of getting you involved in the night.

The Sherlock Holmes opened in 1985 and the hostelry has been extremely well received, as have its comestibles, ales wines and spirits. So much so that the worst criticism has been that the establishment is too small for the large numbers of discerning citizens who wish to avail themselves of the sundry attractions which this unique tavern affords.

Here is a home for the aficionados of the works of the eneffable Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, where the friendly shades of Dr Watson, Professor Moriarty (a changed man since he went over the falls) and the Stradivarius-playing, opium-smoking genius himself, the Great Detective, await your pleasure.

Friday Night Drinks - The George On Collins

162-168 COLLINS ST

After 12 years in the iconic George building, Simon Jones and Greg Kahan knew The Long Room was due for a rebrand. The George on Collins is the final result. It’s a refined all-day venue that emphasises the heritage space without sacrificing its implicit modernity.

The centrepiece of the space is a long bar softly lit with pendant lighting, which boasts a cocktail list curated by Bad Frankie's Sebastian Costello. On it, you'll find the Collins Street Mule — a berry-driven Moscow Mule — and the Roguish Tendencies, a martini with savoury vermouth and thyme-infused honey. The wine list comes from sommelier Ainslie Lubbock (ex-Attica, The Royal Mail Hotel, Cutler and Co), and features some of the best winemakers in Australia, focusing on small batch, handmade wines.

So meet Nicole at the reserved area for some Friday Night fun.

Friday Night Drinks - Storyville

185 Lonsdale St, Melbourne

Step right up and turn the page, choose your own adventure. But beware…this fairytale is not for the faint of heart. For once you have passed through the gateways of StoryVille, you have fallen down the rabbit hole, discovered the lion through the wardrobe, and wandered along the pathways of the enchanted forest.

StoryVille is themed around the childhood fables and fairytales that we all know and love; all encompassed in a venue that ignites the imagination. Here your favourite stories come to life; through whimsical and unique interior design and our colourful cocktail menu, featuring James’ giant peach and even edible insects.

With cocktail in hand, and music from Melbourne’s best DJs and entertainers, you’ll dance through a door to find yourself in another world. Take the dark or light roads, let your soul unwind and unleash your inner mythical being in a place where anything is possible.

StoryVille’s cocktails are influenced by celebrated pieces of classic literature and some your favourite children’s books. Your experience sitting beneath the towering toadstools in the Mushroom Palace will be nothing short of magical, but while you’re there be sure to try one of our artisan cocktails…

‘Through The Looking Glass’ stars alcoholic Vanilla Cream tea served in a teapot with dry ice. And in honour of George Orwell’s Animal Farm, ‘Mr Pilkington’s Neighbour’ features pork-chop-fat washed bourbon, apple liqueur and animal crackers. These and many more will have you dancing from story to story through our enchanted doorways to the wilder side of life.

This venue does not take bookings on a Friday night so I will be at the bar from 4.30pm if you wish to come early.

Christmas Party Drinks - Diesel

202 Little Lonsdale St, Melbourne

Happy Christmas!! Come and celebratae Christmas with Friday Night Drinks at a new bar on the scene.

Welcome to Diesel Bar, the energy that’s responsible for the light peering through the rustic cracks of the heritage 1920’s building.

It has been whispered on the streets of Melbourne that this landmark was once surrounded by brothels and opium dens. In the seedy days of Little Lonsdale Street, dark and forbidden, building No.202 looked quite the same. By law the face of this historical element is not allowed to be altered hence the retention of its impressive façade.

Nowadays, No.202 hosts a classier crowd which enters through its maintained face of debauchery.

Step through the 1920’s and into Diesel Bar & Eatery, where the insides have evolved dramatically bringing you the moodiest, contemporary bar the CBD has to offer.

Melbourne is forever on the go, and that’s exactly what has inspired the menu at Diesel. From a share plate to something a little more if you need it, Diesel is the perfect place to go for after work drinks, date night or even a meal with friends.

They have a happy hour from 4pm to 7pm so come early and enjoy some cheap drinks before they finish.
